Our new mayor, Sam Braden is already making a difference in our community, and it has been noticed by the Iowa Commission of Latino Affairs. They have awarded Mayor Braden with the Iowa Latino Hall of Fame’s 2022 Robert D. Ray Award for Equity & Justice. This award is given to individuals in Iowa who have and continue to create a welcoming place for Iowa’s new immigrants. The Iowa Latino Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be held Saturday, October 15 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Des Moines Art Center (4700 Grand Avenue, Des Moines, IA 50312).
